Payments Operations Specialist

What does a successful Payments Operations Specialist do?

A successful Payments Operations Specialist at Fiserv helps merchants operate with confidence by supporting reliable, efficient day-to-day payment operations. This role strengthens the client experience by monitoring operational health, resolving exceptions, and coordinating timely outcomes across teams and partners. As part of our commitment to being partners in possibility, this person brings a customer-focused, detail-oriented approach that supports service excellence, operational resilience, and continuous improvement. They also help provide visibility into performance, incidents, and risk through strong governance and reporting practices.

What you will do:

• Monitor operational queues, case activity, and service requests to support SLA adherence and service continuity
• Provide second-line support for terminal solutions and merchant support tools, including onboarding, activation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
• Investigate failed requests, validate operational data, and support maintenance activities across payment operations processes
• Triage incidents, escalate issues to the appropriate teams, and track progress through resolution
• Perform operational checks, support reconciliations, and maintain accurate records in line with control requirements
• Prepare KPI reporting and support governance routines that provide visibility to senior stakeholders
• Maintain standard operating procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency
• Coordinate with internal partners and external providers to resolve issues and support dependable merchant operations

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent military experience
• Experience supporting payments operations, merchant support, or digital platform operations in a regulated or service-driven environment
• Knowledge of merchant acquiring card payment flows, terminal operations, and customer support tools
• Proficiency using ticketing or workflow management systems to manage cases, incidents, and service requests
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

What would be great to have:

• Experience supporting SoftPOS solutions or digital acceptance products
• Familiarity with merchant portals and terminal lifecycle support activities
• Understanding of ITIL concepts, incident management, and service operations best practices
• Basic SQL skills for operational research, data validation, or reporting support
• Experience contributing to reporting, governance routines, and process improvement initiatives
