Position Overview

The goal of the Software Engineer II is to ensure a strong technical and data foundation to drive our product lines. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a multi-hundred-terabyte data lake and the proprietary algorithms that power our insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Infrastructure: Develop and maintain a multi-hundred-terabyte data lake, ensuring robust, scalable, and performant data storage to support renewable energy analytics.
  • Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, and optimize data ingestion pipelines using advanced SQL and object-oriented Python programming to integrate diverse datasets efficiently.
  • Data Warehousing: Implement and administer Snowflake data warehouse solutions, including SQL tuning, schema design, and performance optimization.
  • DevOps & Automation: Automate deployment and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Docker, and other DevOps tools in alignment with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles.
  • CI/CD: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for production deployments to ensure reliable data delivery and feature rollouts.
  • Product Support: Enable performant data access layers and APIs to support real-time front-end web applications for renewable generation value analysis.
  • Security: Manage secure user credential creation and role-based access controls to ensure data security compliance.
  • Algorithm Maintenance: Support the execution of proprietary algorithms to generate time-series data for tens of thousands of renewable energy projects.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Analytics, Development Operations, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Object-oriented programming in Python.
  • Snowflake data warehouse expertise.
  • System integration and automation.
  • Design and development of enterprise-level automation test platforms.
  • Enabling downstream users/processes easy access to complicated data models.

Details

  • Location: Boston, MA
  • Our organization works on a hybrid model. We are in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at our downtown Boston building, and remote work is optional on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Compensation and Benefits
  • The base compensation range for this position is $110,000 - 130,000. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This range does not include annual bonus, equity-based incentives, and benefits.
