A bit about the role
This role reports to: Head of New Business
Through our leading market events, Bett and the Edtech portfolio, is playing a pivotal role in making better education, globally. The worldwide challenges faced by national education systems offer a unique opportunity for a platform to help the collaboration of ideas, the discussion of polices and the adoption of technology to help accelerate learning outcomes.
We are seeking an Account Manager to drive new business within the Higher Education sector for Bett UK with a focus on growing the Higher Education Campus through exhibition and sponsorship sales.
As part of your job, you will:
- Position the Bett global series as the leading EdTech platform and a must-attend event for educators, innovators and policymakers shaping the future of education
- Representing the portfolio with credibility and enthusiasm when engaging with clients, partners and institutions
- Adopting a consultative sales approach to develop deep sector and regional expertise, sharing insight both internally and externally
- Developing and executing targeted sales plans across priority markets and Higher Education segments to attract high-value customers
- Representing Bett at industry events, building relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new revenue across exhibitions, sponsorship, and digital products both at the Bett shows and throughout the annual show cycle
- Achieve sales targets with accurate forecasting and timely reporting
- Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and business objectives to align solutions effectively
- Identify and convert new business opportunities, building strong client relationships quickly
- Proactively generate leads through networking, industry events, online research, and outbound business development
- Ensure timely follow-up on self-sourced and marketing-qualified leads, alongside proactive outreach to new organisations
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships within client organisations
- Win new business and increase average order value
- Maximise revenue from newly acquired customers by upselling during the show cycle ensuring a seamless handover to the retention account management team for ongoing growth post-event
- Maintain accurate CRM records and take ownership of pipeline management, activity tracking, and revenue forecasting
- Travel as required to support client meetings, events and wider business needs
Here’s what we’re looking for from you:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a sales or business development environment
- Strong experience across telephone, virtual and face-to-face sales
- Proven experience selling EdTech, events, conferences or digital solutions using a consultative approach
- Strong knowledge of the Higher Education sector
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- Commercially and strategically minded, with the ability to identify revenue opportunities and generate new ideas to deliver revenue growth
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills to support customer acquisition
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information to a range of stakeholders
- Experience working towards targets or OKRs with a proactive and results-driven mindset
- Self-motivated, resilient and adaptable with a positive mindset
