ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven, and highly motivated Event Director with deep expertise in healthcare, health technology, life sciences, or the healthcare innovation ecosystem to lead the growth and end-to-end delivery of HLTH USA .
HLTH USA is the leading event for healthcare innovation, held annually in Las Vegas each October, bringing together 12,000+ leaders across providers, payers, employers, pharma, investors, startups, government, and technology organizations to pioneer a healthier future through dynamic partnerships and transformative ideas.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall success of HLTH USA—including strategy, revenue growth, audience development, strategic partnerships, content direction, operational delivery, and team.
The successful candidate will be expected to drive HLTH’s next phase of growth by expanding its influence, strengthening its executive audience, deepening industry partnerships, and delivering exceptional commercial performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event & Team Leadership
- Lead the overall event strategy and execution for HLTH USA across marketing, sales, content, operations, strategic partnerships, and hosted buyer programmes—ensuring alignment with the evolving US healthcare and health technology landscape
- Own and continuously evolve the master project plan for HLTH USA, ensuring alignment across all functions and successful delivery of strategic objectives.
- Run agile project cycles and “sprints” to deliver key milestones and drive momentum across overlapping event cycles
- Inspire, manage, and develop a cross-functional team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture
- Be hands-on in delivery—comfortable executing as well as leading
Commercial Accountability
- Own and deliver the full event revenue for HLTH USA across sponsorship, exhibition, hosted buyers, and delegate ticket sales
- Work closely with the sales team to maximise all revenue opportunities and optimise performance across sponsorship, exhibition, hosted buyer programmes, delegate sales, and strategic partnerships
- Actively contribute to sales, including closing high-value sponsorship deals with global healthcare brands, payers, providers, pharma, and tech companies
- Oversee pipeline management, sales reporting, and forecasting across dual revenue streams
- Develop and evolve sponsorship inventory, including creating innovative, high-value commercial opportunities that leverage the HLTH USA audience and ecosystem
Product Development & Innovation
- Continuously enhance HLTH USA to ensure they remain industry-leading
- Identify and implement new ideas across pricing models, content formats, audience experiences, and partnerships
- Stay ahead of US healthcare trends including digital health, AI, payer/provider dynamics, pharmaceutical innovation, health equity, and policy developments shaping the future of healthcare
- Drive the evolution of HLTH's core growth sectors, including AI, diagnostics, pharma and life sciences, AgeTech, women's health, employer solutions, interoperability, cybersecurity, and emerging healthcare innovation categories
- Continuously enhance executive-level experiences, networking programmes, hosted buyer initiatives, and thought leadership platforms that differentiate HLTH in the market
- Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring both events deliver exceptional value for all stakeholders
- Leverage insights and best practices across both events to drive continuous improvement
Strategic Partnership Management
- Build and maintain senior relationships with key industry stakeholders in healthcare and health technology, including health systems, payers, pharma, medtech, digital health companies, investors, and associations
- Develop strategic relationships with major healthcare associations, industry groups, government organizations, and global partners that expand HLTH's reach and influence
- Act as an ambassador for HLTH USA within the US and global healthcare and technology ecosystem
P&L Ownership
- Own the full P&L for HLTH USA, ensuring strong financial performance, profitability, and sustainable long-term growth
- Manage cost control, budgeting, and team spend across event budget
- Deliver accurate and timely revenue forecasting across all revenue streams
- Regularly review and adjust forecasts based on performance, market conditions, and macroeconomic factors affecting the US healthcare sector
ABOUT YOU
- Deep understanding of the US healthcare, technology, and digital health landscape, including familiarity with the payer, provider, pharma, and digital health ecosystem
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams (minimum 3+ years)
- Minimum 7+ years' experience leading large-scale events, media properties, commercial platforms, or business units within healthcare, technology, life sciences, or adjacent industries
- Demonstrated success in owning and exceeding commercial targets (revenue and profit), ideally across multiple concurrent events
- Strong sales capability, with experience closing high-value sponsorship deals with enterprise healthcare and technology companies
- Experience managing strategic partnerships with industry associations or co-creation partners is highly desirable
- Experience launching or scaling event products within the US market
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, delivery-focused mindset
- Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with overlapping event cycles
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at c-suite level across the healthcare industry
- Willingness to travel domestically as required by event schedule
